TransPork Anniversary – 30 Years of Reliable Dry Feeding
This year, SKIOLD marks a special milestone: TransPork celebrates its 30th anniversary. Since the system was introduced in 1996,
TransPork has been an integral part of daily operations for many pig producers. Although the industry has evolved significantly over the years, TransPork remains a reliable and robust dry feeding system in modern pig production.
Built for a busy everyday operation
TransPork is developed to deliver stable and reliable feeding – day after day. The system is based on solid, proven components engineered to perform optimally year after year, even under continuous daily load.
“TransPork is known for its robust construction and long service life, and over the years the system design has proven to be both stable and reliable in operation.”
This is further reflected in the wide use of the system. Since its launch in 1996, approximately 200,000 kilometres of TransPork wire have been sold, underlining the confidence pig producers have placed in this solution over the years.
Key features include:
- Lifetime‑lubricated ball bearings, requiring minimal maintenance
- A coated and specially hardened wire, ensuring long service life and clean operation
- Self‑emptying components, reducing the build‑up of stale feed
- A large drive wheel, minimising wear and bending stress on the wire
- Low‑noise operation, contributing to a better environment for both animals and staff
In practice, this means that TransPork largely takes care of itself – even during busy periods.
A system that fits almost everywhere
Much of TransPork’s success lies in its flexibility. The system can be adapted to almost any housing layout and installed on the floor, mounted on the wall, free‑standing or suspended under a silo. It can be used both as a feed transport system and a feeding system and works in combination with a wide range of feed dispensers and volume dispensers.
This makes TransPork suitable for both small and large pig production units – in new buildings as well as in existing facilities.
The TransPork wire – designed for reliable feed transport
The wire is a key component of the TransPork system and plays an important role in operational reliability, noise reduction and service life. SKIOLD’s dry feeding wire is developed specifically for TransPork and features a strong, elastic rubber coating between the discs, protecting the wire against wear and ensuring long‑term flexibility.
The coating also prevents metal splinters from entering the feed, supporting a high level of feed hygiene. Combined with the TransPork drive wheel, which ensures that the pulling force is consistently directed through the centre of the wire, wear on both wire and components is significantly reduced.
The result is a quiet, hygienic and extremely durable solution that requires minimal maintenance and supports stable operation – even in long installations with continuous daily use.

A test performed by the Danish Institute of Technology revealed a significantly longer lifetime of SKIOLD wires compared to competing alternatives, as shown in the diagram above.
Designed for today’s requirements
Although TransPork has been in the market for 30 years, the system continues to meet modern production demands. With control systems such as TP0M, MultiPork and Distriwin, the installation can today:
- Operate manually, semi‑automatically or fully automatically
- Handle phase feeding with many mixtures
- Deliver precise and consistent feed dosing
- Be adapted to both simple and advanced feeding strategies
This keeps TransPork relevant in modern pig production, where requirements for efficiency and flexibility are higher than ever.
High capacity – even in long installations
TransPork is also recognised for its ability to transport large volumes of feed over long distances. Depending on the configuration, the system can deliver up to 3,000 litres per hour and be built with very long installations driven by a single drive unit. This provides great freedom when planning the layout of the housing.
Three decades of proven quality
When a product remains a core part of the portfolio 30 years after its introduction, it is a clear proof of a well‑engineered and durable design. For three decades, TransPork has been a reliable part of everyday operations for pig producers and continues to play an important role in SKIOLD’s dry feeding programme.
We are proud to celebrate 30 years of TransPork – a system that has proven its value in practice and continues to deliver stable and reliable feeding, year after year.
